Beyonce & Jay-Z Denied ‘Blue Ivy’ Copyright

Posted on October 22, 2012 by Pryncepality

I think Beyonce & Jay-Z may have found one of their 99 problems…

After giving birth and coming up with their daughter Blue Ivy’s name (which everyone thought was pretty unique) they decided to pursue a trademark.

But unfortunately for the mogul couple, the US Patent and Trademark Office decided not to approve their request.

According to a report, a Boston-based wedding-planning company has utilized the Blue Ivy name since 2009 and they’ve filed a lawsuit to keep the rights to their name.

Veronica Alexandra, the 32-year-old owner of Blue Ivy Events, said she holds no ill will against Beyonce or Jay-Z.

“I can’t be frustrated with something I think is going to bring me to produce and define my brand even more, which is financially exciting in itself and intellectually exciting as well,” she said. “It’s like they caused me to create more opportunity for myself.”

The websites homepage even pays homage to the celebrity couple.

I guess the megastar parents are going to have to figure something else out…
